Gypsy Horse World Show Celebrate the Registry's Tenth Anniversary
by Linda Brown, Proud Owner and Exhibitor
February 1 through 3 you will see some of the finest Gypsy Horses in the world in attendance at
the Gypsy Horse World Show at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo. This will be the fifth year
for this exciting event with last year drawing 156,000 people on Saturday and 150,000 on Sunday.
You will see the horses in classes from Carriage Driving to Hunter to Trail Riding and Trail In Hand
as well as Showmanship and Halter Classes and more.
Crowds are always in awe of these amazing horses
as their talent is only outdone by their striking looks with long manes and heavy feather and tails.
The public is invited down the aisles to take photos and learn about the history of this breed
originally raised by the Romani Gypsy people in England and Ireland. Many of the horses you will
see will either be those imports or their immediate offspring. This year's show is a special event
as the Gypsy Horse Registry of America celebrates its ten year anniversary. At this time, it is with
mixed feelings we also acknowledge the retirement of Jan Easter and Priscilla Cox, the two sisters
who founded this registry in 2003 and selflessly ran it for the ten years purely out of love for the
breed as both were volunteers. We wish them both much deserved fun in their next endeavors.
