July 14, 1943 - August 21, 2020
Ruby Virginia Holder Stolte took her final journey and passed away peacefully at her home on August 21, 2020, surrounded by her family at the age of 77 years old. Ruby was a much beloved Wife, Mother, and Nana. Ruby was born on July 14, 1943 to Pleas Spier Holder, Sr. and Berniece Holder.
Ruby is survived by her devoted husband of almost 56 years, Milton L. (M.L.) Stolte, her two daughters, Lesley Lane and husband, Russell Lane, and Joan Markos and husband, Kirk Markos. Ruby is also survived by her five grandchildren whom she adored: Donovan Lee Greer, Madison Schmit, Kyle Markos, McCurdy Lane, and Charlotte Lane. Ruby is also survived by her brother, Pleas Spier Holder, Jr. and wife, Dorothy Holder.
Growing up, Ruby lived in San Antonio, and then Laredo, TX, for a spell. She was a graduate of Jefferson High School in San Antonio and attended San Antonio College. Ruby met her future husband, Milton Stolte, in 1962. They always told each other that they "loved each other before they even met." They married on Christmas Eve of 1964.
In her early career, in addition to being a farmer's wife, Ruby was a Court Reporter at Lackland Air Force Base, and then later sold real estate. Ruby always played an active role in her community and daughters' activities. Some of her roles included Vice President of the Medina Valley PTA, President of the South Texas Farm and Ranch Club, and softball coach. Ruby and Milton also supported the Helotes 4-H Club for 36 years.
Ruby was over the moon when grandkids came along. She was a wonderful Nana and spent time with them all as often as she possibly could. She loved to attend her grandkids' events and cheer for them. Another favorite pastime of Ruby's was to spend time with her family at Medina Lake, enjoying the sun and company.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at both Methodist Hospital and then Vitas Hospice for their care of Ruby.
